Ibiza is an island well-known for its gastronomic offerings. There are beach clubs, fine dining destinations, rustic restaurants, farm-to-table eateries, secret countryside supper clubs and quirky cocktail lounges galore out there, which is all part of what makes the island so magical. But when you’re on holiday, there are also those days where you just don’t feel like moving from the comfort of your hotel – no matter how much food, fun or adventure is on your doorstep.

With this in mind, our head chef Lee Milne has designed a series of round-the-clock culinary experiences that mean you’ll never get bored when spending 24 hours at Pikes. In fact, we’ve had many guests who check in for a week’s holiday and spend a large proportion of their time on hotel grounds – a testament to the food, fun and adventures that lie within! It’s not only guests who get to experience our breakfast, lunch and dinner menus – visitors are also welcome to join us, although the local law means we have to send you home at 4am (sorry!). Let us talk you through a typical day-to-night dining experience at Pikes…

Depending on the way you spent the night before, you’ll either roll out of bed and reach for the shades, before dragging yourself up to Room 39, or bound out of bed fresh-faced, and spring up to our lovely terrace, ready to get the day underway. We know full well that our guests love a late night, so we serve breakfast until midday every day (except Sunday – we serve til 11am due to the popularity of our Sunday roast – the chefs need all the space they can get in the kitchen). You’ll be glad you made it – our breakfast menu is, if we do say so ourselves, one of the most extensive in Ibiza and it’s got all appetites covered.

If you’re staying with us, the continental breakfast is included in your room rate – bonus! Just-squeezed OJ, freshly-baked croissants, pastries and breads, seasonal fruit from the farm down the road, good old British cereals, natural yoghurt, berry compote, and homemade granola. And of course, your essential tea or coffee served in a Pikes mug (yes, you can take them home… for a fee!). The à la carte breakfast is the one that gets noses in the air – the scent of bacon and sausage grilling gets most late-snoozing guests out of bed quick smart! We’ve got avo toasts, vegan-friendly grilled mushrooms on sourdough, scrambled tofu and kale, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on brioche, the classics – Full English (authentically so) and Eggs Benedict – plus mouth-wateringly good and simple grilled bacon or sausage rolls. Just add a Bloody Mary, some cava or one of our many juice concoctions and you’re on your way to a perfect day.

For those guests who need a bit longer to re-enter reality, now’s the time to shuffle back to your room and sink into your bed. Alternatively, grab yourself a sun lounger and sink into a post-brekkie siesta, or since you’re presiding over the original site of Club Tropicana, it would almost be rude NOT to have a cocktail (and no matter how many times you sing it, we’re afraid drinks are not free). We have an entire menu of daytime ‘Rocktails’ for you to choose from, including the Punk-a-Colada, the Mercury Margarita, fruity Dirty Deeds Frozen Daiquiris and classic Pornstar Martinis because, well, why not?

Lunch is a super relaxed affair at Pikes – we believe in offering both healthy and hearty options to suit your mood. If you missed breakfast, never fear – smashed avo on multi-seed toast, the aforementioned sausage and bacon rolls plus the full English are available poolside, all day. No hotel experience – anywhere in the world – is complete without sampling its club sandwich and ours is made with a twist of smoked turkey. Our burgers too, are worth writing home about – opt for the house burger, complete with provolone cheese, onion rings, sun blushed tomato and rocket on brioche or the veggie-friendly beetroot and quinoa version. Naturally, both come with a basket crispy house fries.

This season, some of the most popular dishes on our lunch menu have been the salad bowls – each one is brimming with colour and flavour, and the portion sizes are big enough to keep the health-loving guys happy too – we’re not here to feed rabbits after all! Choose between a classic Caesar with chicken or prawns, the superfood salad of quinoa, avocado, spinach, soya bean, alfalfa and seeds, the amazing green pea falafel bowl with beetroot hummus and cinnamon quinoa, a fresh and light watermelon and local goat’s cheese or the delicious Thai-style green papaya bowl.

After lunch, it’s all about siestas, sunbathing, slinking around in your suite… whatever takes your fancy. You could crack open the contents of the minibar if you’re hanging around on your own terrace, or of course, revisit the Rocktail menu – our upper terrace is a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the hills of San Antonio. It’s around this time we start to switch things up in the kitchen and the bar, as our Curiosity Shop – on the Room 39 terrace – starts to come to life. Our bar manager Tanja has created a menu full of exclusive bespoke cocktails that you’ll only ever be able to try at Pikes – with names like the Crystal Dildo, All Seeing Eye, Old Man’s Poison and Legless Indian, it’s almost impossible to guess what the concoction will be. You’ll just have to come and see us to find out!

After dark is when our kitchen team take things up a notch, and our upgraded night menu has been receiving rave reviews from our guests this summer – compliments on to the chef(s)! Everything on the menu is fresh, seasonal and with a unique Pikes twist plus a touch of nostalgia – such as a cheese toastie on the side of a white onion veloute and the painstakingly made smoked ham hock with foie gras and homemade piccalilli to start. Choosing between slow-cooked beef and glazed pigs cheek for mains is always touch for the carnivores, while seafood lovers have been loving our fillet of wild sea bass. For veggies, although the potato terrine sounds rather humble by name, when your plate arrives, you can rest assured these spuds are anything but basic.

Desserts too are a labour of love – our pastry chef Will goes above and beyond the call of duty in order to ensure every last dish looks like a work of art. A porcupine-like Baked Alaska, homemade oat cakes with the finest cheese and pickles, a rich chocolate ganache offset with passionfruit curd and his pièce de résistance, the egg custard tart served with a homemade macaroon. There’s no rush when you’re dining in Room 39 – we want you to linger as long as you like – however those keen to get the party started (you are at Pikes after all), may be keen to note we offer half price drinks in Freddie’s between 10pm and 11pm.

Anyone who says they don’t get a little thrill when it comes to ordering room service in a hotel has got to be lying – we think it’s one of life’s greatest holiday pleasures (closely followed by minibars, tiny little toiletries and someone else making your bed)! And so, for those guests who find themselves peckish in the hours between dinner and breakfast – our room service menu offers a selection of Pikes classics to tide you over til morning comes. Just pick up your phone and call reception and we’ll bring it direct to your door. Eat, sleep, rave, repeat is our motto – and when it comes to the eating part, our kitchen has got you covered.
