Pikes does Secret Santa
Not Your Average Gift Guide
When the time comes for Santa to make his naughty and nice list this year, we can save him the trouble of having to check it twice. Anyone who’s been to Pikes in 2018 can be immediately relegated to the naughty list! While the big man might be contemplating lumps of coal all round for all the Pikes family and friends, we still have our own Christmas conundrums to deal with. Parents, partners, work wives/husbands, BFFs, kids, Secret Santa, pets – they’re all going to need/expect a present.
Not only will our quirky Pikes-inspired Christmas gift guide rescue you from the embarrassment of being that person who turns up with a sheepish look and a tin of Quality Street on Christmas Day, it will turn you into an all-round Yuletide hero! ‘Tis the season to be shopping after all…
For the troublemaker
We’ve all got those friends whose tales of debauchery could fill a book and now, we’ve got the ideal gift for them. The Pikes x Rockett St George Holy Bible Notebook is the perfect size to keep tucked in a bedside table or handbag for those times one needs to subtly confess to some sins!
For the music lover
Bypass the cringe-inducing Christmas CD offerings of Mariah Carey and Michael Buble and make a beeline for Pikes Records Volume 1: The Sound of Mercury Rising Compiled With Love By DJ Harvey (yes, that’s the full title!). Once you’re done singing along to Wham’s Last Christmas, whack this on and watch how quickly everyone snaps out of their post-turkey food coma!
For the recently single
No one wants to get stuck sitting next to a sad single at the Christmas table – fact. Prevent tears over turkey by presenting your newly separated friend or family member with a fab status necklace from True Rocks, our faves being: ‘No Knickers’, ‘Divorced’, ‘Single’, ‘Fuck Off’ and ‘Pussy Power’. The fastest, most glamorous way to get over a break-up!
For the grinch
There’s always one Christmas Grinch who declares: “Don’t waste your money on me, I don’t need anything,” or “Christmas is a money-making scam,’ or other such martyr-like statements of doom. But you know if you followed through with their suggestion, they’d be put out and Christmas day would be ruined. A Choose Love print from Print Club London beats them to the punch – it’s a feel-good gift that not only looks good, but that also does good by donating part of the proceeds to UK charity Help Refugees. Our favourite is the Pikes & Silken Favours collaboration – obvs!
For party people
It’s quite possibly the biggest bauble you’ll see come Christmas day and there’s no time like the ‘present’ to put the Pikes x Rockett St George Disco Ball Cocktail Sharer to good use! Fill it with punch, eggnog, bucks fizz, mulled wine, spiced cider – whatever jingle juice will get the Christmas party started!
For the bookworm
Curling up with a good book on Boxing Day is a time-honoured Christmas tradition. Mr Pikes: The Story Behind The Ibiza Legend by none other than Tony Pike (with Matt Trollope) is most definitely a page-turner, though you might want to think carefully before giving a copy to your granny. An adults-only tale that details the evolution of Pikes and Tony’s R-rated escapades with famous friends including Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones and George Michael.
For the little ones
There seems to be no bounds to the talents of Rory Dobner, whose fantastic paintings adorn many of our walls at Pikes. This month, the acclaimed artist has released his very first children’s book: The Ink House: A Gothic Mansion Colouring Book – a beautifully illustrated hardcover detailing the adventures of the creative creatures who take over an artist’s home when he goes away. With so much detail om each and every page, it will keep them quiet long after the wrapping paper’s been thrown away!
For the crazy cat lady
Whether it’s your mum, your sister, your daughter, your girlfriend or your wife, the shrieks of delight from your resident cat lover will be your assurance that you uncovered the perfect feline-inspired gift. Artist Rory Dobner’s famous monocle-wearing cat – as soon on the walls at Pikes – has been imprinted on a variety of gift items, from tote bags and mugs to framed ink prints, cake stands, teapots, tea towels and cushions. Simply search ‘cat’ on his website and take your pic – there’s even a customised Christmas card version of it to top it off.
For the fashionista
It’s always summer somewhere as the saying goes and once the fashionista in your life receives her Silken Favours kaftan for Christmas, she’ll be on her phone searching Skyscanner faster than you can say Wham! You’ll also find shirts, scarves, halter tops and much more in eclectic and creative prints from talented designer Vick Murdoch, who also custom-designed our soft furnishings at Pikes.
For the person who has everything
No matter how many times you scour the shops, trawl the internet and ask for hints, there are some people who are just impossible to buy for because they simply buy everything they want or need for themselves. Forget any future frustration – Donna Ganley of Starlover creates incredible bespoke leather jackets that are truly one-of-a-kind and painted with the wearer in mind – not to mention as far from ‘off the rack’ as you can get.
The emergency stocking stuffer
OK we’ll admit it – we just wanted an excuse to pun about stuffing based on the almost explicit attention to detail on the Pikes x Rockett St George Wham Shorts Cocktail Sharer. Apparently it’s an anatomically correct replica of George Michael’s trunk in his tidy whitey swim trunks in the Club Tropicana film clip – it can be used as a glass, as a vase, as a planter, as a pen holder or simply as decoration. That’s one very versatile gift if you ask us!
Last but not least… Don’t forget to treat yourself!
All that Christmas shopping must have been exhausting. You deserve a break. A long one. In summer. At Pikes. Reserve your 2019 summer stay with us now and spend the rest of the festive season dreaming about days by the pool, nights spent in Freddie’s and everything in between. Happy holidays – literally!
