We pride ourselves on being pretty old school here at Pikes – but when we say that, we really mean authentic. You can have a good old-fashioned rave in Freddies, but that doesn’t mean our music policy is stuck in the past. Far from it!

Take this year’s most recent addition to the Pikes family, Jaguar – host of BBC Introducing Dance on  Radio 1. She’s helming three Jaguar presents Utopia events in Freddies this summer and is all about championing a new wave of electronic artists. “The best music is coming from new artists at the moment!” she tells us excitedly. “The new generation are creating a new world, diverse sounds and pushing boundaries in what they place and in terms of who is being represented. UTOPIA prides itself on championing the new wave of electronic artists, so if you want to  discovery something new and cutting edge, then the party is for you – it’s the easiest sell in the world!”

No stranger to Pikes, Jaguar has always been entranced by our history. “When I first came to Ibiza to do a mini-season in 2016, I couldn’t wait to experience it,” she  explains. “We went on our final night before our flight home and I was hit by its  majesty. The pink tennis court and the iconic Club Tropicana pool. I also met Maxi  Jazz from Faithless there which was pretty surreal. I love that Pikes has managed to  maintain its magic and legacy – the hypnotic sounds coming from Freddies left such an impression on me.”

Jaguar also made an impression on us – the first two of her three gigs were through  the roof, and we can’t wait to get back into Freddies next week for the third and final  instalment. “The first gigs have been perfect,” says Jaguar. “We’ve had the best time! It’s such an honour to have this residency and to be able to bring my friends  along is a very special feeling. Everyone loved playing, the crowd were so beautiful,  and the energy was so light and positive. The September date is going to be fun!”

When we asked what UTOPIA means to Jaguar, she didn’t hesitate to answer. “I always describe UTOPIA as a perfect moment,” she says. “A night of colourful sounds and friendly faces. I really felt that during the first dates of the residency, it felt like a sacred community and super inclusive. Everyone was so respectful, into the music and also open to connecting with everyone. The DJ line up spans from my ethos of creating a utopian world, and will shine a light on a lot of minorities, which is heavily needed in dance music right now. September will be the final date, and we’re planning something very special so I’m looking forward to that too. It’s always a  pleasure to play in Ibiza, and I’m thankful to Pikes for making my dream a reality and trusting me with this residency. See you in Freddies!”
